5 Reasons to Use Place Cards

Place cards….some people love them and others think they are totally unnecessary. I’ve held parties both with and without them and have certainly noticed a difference. Overall, I do think that having place cards creates a smoother environment at the dinner table. Take a look at my 5 reasons for why you should use place cards at your next party.

1. Less Confusion

Have you ever struggled to get all your food ready and hot at the same time only to call everyone to the dinner table and then they stand there trying to decide where to sit while your food gets cold?

2. No Odd Seats

After everyone finally finds a spot at the table you realize your uncle’s new girlfriend was in the bathroom and now everyone is sitting but there is no seat next to your uncle. New girlfriend doesn’t know anybody and will feel uncomfortable sitting on the other side of the table from her guy.

3. Host Near the Kitchen

When I’m hosting I like to have the seat closest to the kitchen because I know I’m going to be getting up and down for refills or to grab something I forgot.

4. Keep the Peace

One cousin is a democrat the other is a republican…it is just best if they aren’t near each other at the dinner table unless you love politics at the dinner table. Your aunt is always picking on her sister and eventually someone is going to blow up. Grandpa and your dad aren’t speaking this week. Sometimes you need to strategically place your family members to keep the peace. Or, on a more positive note, maybe you know that two guests were really looking to catch up…

5. They Look Pretty

Even if you have the most organized, coordinated, peaceful family you still might want to include place cards simply cause they look nice as part of your table setting.
