Burger Buns

Burger Buns

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup warm water 110-120 degrees
- 1 tbsp + 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 420 g all-purpose flour
- 50 g sugar
- 8 g salt
- 2 tbsp butter room temp
- 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
- 1 egg white
- everything but the bagel seasoning
Instructions
- Combine the warm water and the yeast. Stir and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine flour, sugar, salt, butter, the egg and the egg yolk. (Reserve the egg white for later).
- Using the dough hook, knead the mixture for 5 minutes until smooth and no longer sticky.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let rise at room temperature for 1.5-2 hours until doubled in bulk.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide the dough into 8 equal pieces.
- Shape the pieces into balls and place them on a greased sheet pan. Flatten them slightly with the palm of your hand. Cover and let rise for 1 hour at room temperature.
- Heat your oven to 375. Brush the rolls with the egg white using a pastry brush. Sprinkle with everything but the bagel seasoning or your favorite topping (sesame seeds, salt, poppy seeds, etc.).
- Bake for 15 minutes, rotating the tray halfway through baking. Remove from the pan immediately to a cooling rack.
