Apple Crisp

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs apples
  • 1⁄4 cup orange or lemon juice
  • orange zest from half orange
  • 1⁄4 cup sugar
  • 1⁄4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1⁄2 cup sugar
  • 1⁄2 cup brown sugar
  • 1⁄4 tsp salt
  • 3⁄4 cup oats
  • 1⁄2 lb butter 2 sticks

Instructions

  • Slice 5-6 (2 lbs) apples as evenly as possible
  • Sprinkle apples with orange juice, orange zest, sugars, nutmeg and cinnamon
  • Place apples in casserole dish- the bigger the dish, the more even your topping coating will be (I used a 9x13)
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the rest of the ingredients. Cut the butter into small pieces or use a pastry cutter when adding to the rest
  • Sprinkle the butter mixture on top of the apples and bake at 350 F for 35 minutes or until golden brown
  • Top with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!
