Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup raisins

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Combine dry ingredients in a medium bowl.
  • Pour buttermilk in and mix with a spoon or your hands very gently until just combined.
  • Add in raisins and stir gently to evenly distribute.
  • Turn out onto a floured surface and shape into a ball.
  • Place on parchment lined sheet and use a knife to cut a deep X on top. Bake on the middle rack for 27-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool and eat the same day.
