This simple sauce is so flavorful and hearty. Beef along with sweet carrots and onions makes this a great addition to any pasta and is best shared with friends and family.

Ingredients
1/4cupolive oil
2 largecarrots
1stalkcelery
1mediumonion
8clovesgarlic
1lbground beef
16oztomato paste
128ozcrushed tomatoes
1/4cupfresh basil
1/4cupfresh parsley
1/4tspcrushed red pepper
1tbspbetter than beef bullion and 1/2 cup water
1tbspsugar
1/2cupred wine
2tspsalt (to taste)
Instructions
Finely chop onions, celery, and carrots and set aside.
Mince or grate garlic and set aside.
Heat a large pot or dutch oven on medium-high heat.
Add the olive oil to the pan and heat. Onions, carrots, and celery should saute for a few minutes- until they are soft.
When vegetables are soft, add the garlic and saute for one minute. Then add the ground beef and turn the heat down to medium-low.
Once the meat is just browned, mix in the tomato paste. Allow that to cook for a few minutes. Then add the wine if you're using it. If not, add the beef stock and sugar.
After that is well combined, add the crushed tomatoes and spices.
Bring to a boil and then simmer for a few hours. Add salt as needed.
Serve with your favorite pasta or pasta alternative!
